Batten Sportswear

Batten Sportswear is made for the adventurer who needs well-constructed
clothing that can handle the demands of outdoor activities while still
being fashionable for everyday city wear. Designed by Shinya Hasegawa in
Brooklyn, New York, Batten Sportswear strives to fill the complementary
roles of utility and fashion, of simplicity and careful detailing.
Shinya started Batten Sportswear in 2011 after working four years as
assistant designer under Daiki Suzuki at Woolrich Woolen Mills. An avid
surfer and vintage-clothing hound, Shinya gathers inspiration for his
designs from late 1960s through 1980s surf and outdoor wear. He
appreciates this era for the change, and challenge, and energy it
brought to surf and outdoor culture.
