Couverture home has become synonymous with original, desirable and unexpected products. Chosen for a purity of line and an understated design aesthetic, much of the collection is reminiscent of classic Scandinavian furniture and homeware from the fifties and sixties, and yet all pieces are contemporary, often created by new designers.
Couverture home has become synonymous with original, desirable and unexpected products. Chosen for a purity of line and an understated design aesthetic, much of the collection is reminiscent of classic Scandinavian furniture and homeware from the fifties and sixties, and yet all pieces are contemporary, often created by new designers.
Whether it be hand painted porcelain from Astier de Villatte, individually crocheted rugs from British label Teeny Tini or painstakingly embroidered heart shaped cushions from South Africa, hand crafted details are intrinsic to the beauty of these pieces. Traditional techniques are often re-worked and re-interpreted so that traditional French canework used in the children’s furniture of La Maison de Lena for example, combined with an innovative design ethos, results in a uniquely modern look.
An environmentally friendly consciousness is demonstrated in the exquisite children’s plates from Smiling Planet, made from recycled plastic and with the use of non-toxic inks, whilst elsewhere in store there are softest Danish throws woven from biodynamic merino wool or cute ape shaped hangers from Sweden made entirely from forest waste with a non-toxic organic tint.
