Fine Arts graduate Lauren Moffatt, with her passion for prints and love
of all things vintage, always knew deep down that she wanted to pursue a
career in fashion. Originally hailing from Philadelphia, a move to New
York was to precipitate the launch of her eponymous womenswear label
‘Lauren Moffat’ in 2000.
Fine Arts graduate Lauren Moffatt, with her passion for prints and love of all things vintage, always knew deep down that she wanted to pursue a career in fashion. Originally hailing from Philadelphia, a move to New York was to precipitate the launch of her eponymous womenswear label ‘Lauren Moffat’ in 2000.
Defying convention, for the first two seasons Moffatt sewed several hundred pieces at home on her 31ft sailboat docked on New York’s Hudson River. However since becoming known as the label of choice for Hollywood starlets and real girls alike, Moffatt’s studio has progressed to an expansive loft in Chelsea. Named ‘designer to watch’ by both Vogue and Womenswear Daily, her unique sensibility for colour, texture and details has earned her a legion of devotees of her vintage-inspired style.
‘While I love vintage clothing I’m rarely inspired by a whole look, more often just a great detail. I love the unexpected and feeling like you have to get closer to something to see just what’s happening.'
