Previously known as General Research, …Research has emerged as probably one of the most influential brands from Japan to manage the fine line between reproduction and contemporary product. Setsumasa Kobayashi and his colleagues Sasaki and Ishii fill in the dots in the brands title high up in the mountains that surround tokyo.. So far we have seen collections entitled  Prisoner research, News Boy Research, Riding Research, Naval Research, Hunting Jacket research and of course the regular winter collections of Mountain Research. For quality of manufacture and design all of these lines are completely unrivalled, setting a global precedent for detail and aesthetic that is often copied but never bettered.

Clothes are produced in very limited numbers and are collected by fanatics all over the world. Once they are gone they are never repeated, some are evolved further into the in season spin off line 'Other colours'

It's a complete privilege for us to be able to bring these collections to our store, still the only place in the world outside of Japan where you can see them for real.

“My Security Blanket”

Security blanket means ”something gives both comfort and relief” (It doesn’t mean “fire blanket”) It could be anything, but the point is that has to be something you will want to keep at your side all the time.
The word originates from “ A baby’s security blanket”. You might have had memories of a time when you couldn’t go to sleep without being wrapped in your favorite cotton blanket. This word gained popularity with the success of Snoopy. You must have seen Linus trailing his blanket anytime anywhere.

This year is Montain Reseach’s 4th year. We have been working on our ”concrete relation with mountains” for three years and we realized that a horse blanket was always by our side when we spent nights in the mountains.
The blanket which protects us from the cold and the campfire embers is our “Security Blanket”


“Security Blanket” is a must-have for mountaineers.
