With a background in sculpture and a passion for conceptual art and crafts, Canadian designer Wing Yau unintentionally fell into jewellery design. Whilst experimenting and making small gestural sculptures, Wing realised they could be refined and naturally translated into jewellery. WWAKE was established in 2011.

Each WWAKE item is handmade and is a combination of unexpected shapes and stone settings which complement and relate to one another. The metal work often retains the artist’s fingerprints; a subtle detail which upholds the brand values of craftsmanship.

Inspired by the mundane, the exotic and a mix of cultures, Safomasi create illustrative and modern hand printed quilts and cushions. Combining their mutual interest in travel and different working backgrounds, Sarah Fotheringham and Maninder Singh founded the New Delhi based homeware brand in 2010.  |

Safomasi embodies Sarah’s experience as an artist and illustrator and Maninder’s in fashion and production. With a focus on vivid colours and contemporary illustrative prints, each product is handmade and therefore unique. The couple work closely with their printers, dyers and manufacturers in India to produce high quality designs each season. |

New to Couverture this season is German designer Svenja Specht’s elegantly androgynous label, Reality Studio. Not tied to seasonal trends or fast fashion, Reality Studio focuses on cleverly constructed pieces in luxurious fabrics and effortless shapes.

For S/S 14, the brand has collaborated with French scarf label Milleneufcentquatrevingtquatre; renowned for their digital printing and photo montage techniques. The result is a contemporary collection with an intriguing mix of surrealist designs and a vibrant colourful palette.

The Couverture buying team recently travelled to Paris Fashion Week to view the Autumn Winter ’14 collections. In addition to the much anticipated food and ambience unique to Paris, highlights included a visit to cult Japanese label Minä Perhonen, whose collection was presented in the exquisite surroundings of the Swedish Institute in the Marais; a former 16th century hotel which still bears original features dating back to Louise XVI; as well as iconic French shoemaker Michel Vivien, Nolita favourite A Détacher and new to Couverture, hip t-shirt label G.Kero.

For Spring Summer 2014 Couverture welcomes new label Anntian. With unique cuts and meticulously hand rendered detailing, this Berlin based brand is not to be missed. This season, drawing inspiration from light and shadows with the introduction of basic forms and geometric shapes, the collection encompasses elegant designs and intricate prints, beautifully finished in high quality silk. Anntian is exclusive to Couverture in the UK.

With a clear graphical, fun and interactive approach to design, Paris based Elvire Laurent and Marie-Cerise Lichtle created OMY Design & Play in 2012.

Having both graduated from Arts-Deco Paris, the duo draw on their backgrounds and experience in graphic design and illustration to create a line of creative and intelligent products for children and the home.

Giant colouring maps of Paris, placemats and DIY paper costumes in the signature OMY style provide endless opportunities for experimentation and creativity.  All materials are chosen for their quality and respect for the environment, highlighting the brands underlying ethical message.
