Baba Tree - Ethically Woven Ghanaian Bolgatanga Baskets
A supplier of Ghanaian Bolgatanga baskets, The Baba Tree Basket Company is the creation of Gregory McCarthy, who picked up on the idea of re-selling locally made cloth, baskets and beads in his native Canada to fund an ill-fated Ghanaian cultural drumming career. On his return to the African country, MacCarthy began a fair-trade trading company with a dedicated team of local craftspeople who arrive daily at The Baba Tree headquarters in Bolgatanga, situated within Ghana’s Upper East Region. Each basket has been individually woven by a single artisan from grass endemic to the region, woven into numerous patterns or dyed into various shades.
