Donna Wilson

Eleven years ago, Couverture stocked a collection of one-off knitted dolls by Royal College of Art student, Donna Wilson. The Scottish-born designer has since developed a brand with a devoted cult following for the off-beat charm of its home accessories. As an early champion of Wilson’s witty work, it is with great pleasure that we welcome her back to launch her first foray into womenswear. Jumpers and Ice Cream is a capsule collection of exquisitely soft wool jumpers inspired by rainy Sundays, mittened bike rides to the circus, and other instances in which unlikely pairings yield magical results. Wilson’s signature off-kilter colour palette is deployed across playful geometric patterns for pieces that feel “familiar and friendly, but could also be worn to make a statement.” Each jumper is made in Scotland from pure lambswool, in-keeping with the studio’s commitment to local manufacturing. “I think of Couverture as one of the first tastemakers; back then there weren’t many curated lifestyle concepts stores around and working with them really was the beginning of my business. Launching my first collection of women’s knitwear with Couverture feels like such a natural thing, like the journey has come full circle,” explains Wilson. Exclusive to Couverture for Autumn Winter 2014.
