This season Garbstore looks to the archives, taking inspiration from British uniforms of bygone years and the rich tapestry of its heritage. Workwear staples are reimagined and reinterpreted using techniques such as enzyme washing to create a worn, vintage effect. T-shirts and sweats have been emblazoned with thought provoking slogans whilst unique embroidered details have been developed and applied to outerwear and shirting to create a distinct collection which perfectly embodies the signature ‘unfamiliar vintage’ aesthetic which has become synonymous with the brand.
Focusing on functionality and hardwearing materials, the collection explores the use of Japanese fabrications which offer distinctive properties to each of the garments. The Co-op Trench utilises a high-density cotton which provides wind resistance whereas the Hereford Parka and APS II Jacket feature Japanese Repro Military canvas contributing to its durability under the elements.
Further to the theme of workwear and uniform that runs throughout, Garbstore takes references from the British Coalworkers and the National Coal Board during the 1980’s, paying homage to this era and region. The NCB Work Jacket is based on an original British Coal Uniform featuring chest pocket print and reinforced pocket openings which is garment dyed and enzyme washed for vintage handle.
As always with Garbstore, we see elements of sportswear featuring, accents of vintage hiking wear are especially notable in the outerwear offering and can be seen in the Co-op Pullover Shirt and Co-op Parka.
