Introducing Spring Summer '19 at Couverture
Introducing Spring Summer '19 at Couverture
With a new introduction for accessories, Are Studio is a handbag company founded in Los Angeles in 2012. Focusing on clean, minimal shapes to allow the wearer to make their own statements, each bag is handmade in LA and all materials are sourced from local, family owned manufacturers and businesses. They produce with minimal waste and try to use every part of the hide, so that the natural imperfections become part of the bag.
Similarly passionate about modern statements, Miista unites the nostalgia of founder Laura Villasenin’s rural Spanish heritage with a modernist female sentiment, translating cinematic, surreal, and retrospective inspirations into timeless styles rendered in Italian leathers and unexpected materials.
The coming together of cultures is a key theme, and a long dominating trend that looks at Local/Global.
Italian-Korean brand Neul was launched in 2015 with an eye to updating classic tailoring with playful twists. With a relaxed and often oversized fit, their clothes are wearable yet elevated.
Designed in Paris and produced in India, Mii Collection is a clothing line focused on quality handwoven and handprinted textiles that marry two very different cultures into each garment they produce.
Lastly, texture and softness play a key part for Spring Summer ’19, with young Italian brand Nina Leuca creating handmade linen separates inspired by the colours and attitude of the Mediterranean, whilst Halo Labels creates soft and practical separates in their signature cotton gauze. Each garment is layered, over-dyed and carefully constructed from 100% cotton for maximum softness and breathability.
