Mr Larkin: A True Embodiment of Transatlantic Style

Introducing Mr Larkin. We managed to have a quick chat with Founder and Designer, Casey Larkin Blond to hear more about our new recruit. Who is the Mr Larkin woman? She is independent, thoughtful and busy. Describe your new collection in 3 words? Feminine, personal, and relaxed. What made you decide to create your own line? I originally started Mr. Larkin, 10 years ago in San Francisco. It was a very different collection and time in my life then, so the origin and intent behind it was quite different than now. I’m not sure there is enough print space to go into this one, but let’s just say overall I am meant to be self-employed, and I wasn’t finding what I wanted in the market so I made it. What would you say are your 3 style essentials? I’m pretty low maintenance, but I do require more than 3: MAC red lipstick, dry shampoo, Mr. Larkin Babette Trousers in ink poplin, Base Range white tee shirt, oversized lightweight trench, and white sneakers or MNZ Roberta heels in Whiskey. I can pretty much go anywhere and do anything with those pieces. Tell us about what inspires you. The usual: art, music and my surroundings. More specifically, I tend to look to Matisse, Brancusi, Alexander Calder and Louise Bourgeois for artful inspiration in prints or patterns. My mom and grandmother have always been influential and guiding lights. And when in doubt, The Grateful Dead or Talking Heads can get me through any creative crisis. Why Couverture? It is our only store in Europe (other than our own) and we couldn’t be happier. We feel Couverture embraces a similar (yet also different enough) approach to clothing as we do; supporting artful, modern, & independent designers & brands.
