Reebok The Next Step: Running Heritage

Reebok The Next Step: Running Heritage
As long-standing partners of the Garbstore, it only seemed fitting to pay homage to this relationship at the opening of the anniversary store. The product of three generations of shoemakers, the company can trace its origins back to J.W Foster in Bolton, England 1895, where the tradition of craftsmanship, performance and innovation was born. Many years later, these core values still form the backbone of the brand and are something that they will always adhere to. Whilst honouring its heritage, Reebok continues to look forward to the next step, developing and innovating to offer the best in performance. To celebrate Reebok’s multi-faceted history, Garbstore.ten will be playing host to a series of rotating exhibitions over the coming months. Each of which will demonstrate a different layer of its past and future. From its heritage running roots, to new exclusive product launches, the store will provide a showcase for its heritage and what’s yet to come. The Next Step: Running Heritage will kick off the series of exhibitions in September and will illustrate Reebok’s journey from a local UK based company into a global brand. It will showcase ten original running shoes dating from 1969’s ‘World 10’, worn during Ron Hill’s record-breaking Boston Marathon win in 1970 to 1985’s ‘London’ road racing shoe worn by Steve Jones during his Chicago Marathon win. The exhibition will also highlight Reebok’s apparel offering from the early years, displaying the oldest full set within the archives from 1978. The materials have all been curated to speak to different aspects of the brand’s history, whether it’s their commitment to the athlete, performance pieces to any type of running, speaking to female runners or their constant push for ingenuity, Reebok always stays true to its original values and traditions of craftsmanship, performance and innovation while always looking to the next step.
