The Next Step: ERS (Energy Return System) Exhibition

The Next Step: ERS (Energy Return System) Exhibition
The Next Step: ERS (Energy Return System) Exhibition Thursday 9th November – Tuesday 12th December Paying tribute to relationships past and present, Garbstore have collaborated with Reebok on a series of exhibitions designed to celebrate the sportswear brand’s multi-faceted history. Each will demonstrate a different layer of its past and future, from its heritage roots to new exclusive product launches. The Next Step: Energy Running System (ERS) is the third instalment of the series, focusing on the revolutionary idea that raised Reebok’s technology reputation in 1988. ERS was known as a third-dimension innovation, before this breakthrough moment, footwear advancements mainly focused on the first two dimensions of cushioning and stability. As sports conditioning turned to harder surfaces like concrete, fitness shoes at the time were designed to dispense shock on impact preventing the body from recovering effectively for the next step. Reebok recognised that this resulted in the waste of vital energy, and found that there was a need to harness this power for maximum benefit. The development of ERS was a pivotal moment in Reebok’s fitness evolution, which marked the beginning of Reebok’s tech boom. Later evolving into Visible ERS, which enhanced the overall aesthetics of the shoe, the late 1980’s and early 1990’s was a fruitful time for Reebok and solidified them as a leader in the industry. For one month only, Garbstore.ten are proud to showcase a carefully curated collective of the experiments undertaken during this period. Never seen before footwear prototypes and apparel will be unveiled, honouring the evolution of the brand whilst simultaneously celebrating the future.
