TSPTR

An acronym for truth, symmetry, pleasure, taste and recognition, TSPTR focus on form and function, and while the brand concept references design theory, its aesthetic is rooted firmly in the Golden Age of American sportswear. For SS15, the collection looks to American counter culture of the late '€™60s and early '€70s; an era that saw not only the rise of Collegiate style on the East Coast but the burgeoning surf culture in California, a cultural revolution on the West Coast, and a particular focus for TSPTR, the Vietnam war and the cultural revolution that surrounded it. As the war escalated, American College kids as young as 18 were drafted into the US Military, and as often happens in times of despair, opposition was found best expressed through humour. Soldiers took to using slogans and parodies of pop culture icons such as Snoopy and Charlie Brown to express their anxieties and frustration at the bleak disposition they were in. These became the watchwords for revolution, from Student demonstrators' t-shirts and pin buttons to US soldier's helmets and tour jackets; they were the voice of the oppressed and maligned. It is clear that this collection of quality garments is made with a true understanding of the period. Key pieces include an L-B2 Gold Tiger Flight Jacket arguably the hero piece, based on the original jacket issued in the war, featuring a contrast military orange lining and an authentic patch. Most notable is the sheer amount of Peanuts imagery used throughout. Classic slim fit t-shirts and sweaters alike feature 1960s Charlie Brown and Snoopy prints and slogans, crafted from premium cotton, and also be sure to look out for graphic boonie hats and patch happy accessories.
