Japanese designer Keizo Shimizu established Nepenthes as a clothing distributer in 1988, prior to opening the infamous Tokyo menswear emporium of the same name. It is now the masthead to an umbrella of cult sub-brands, including Engineered Garments and Needles. The Rebuild by Needle project is an extension of Shimizu's unique aesthetic and presents an innovative interpretation of repurposed vintage. Deconstructing mostly American military garments, the collection is assembled in Japan, reworking pre-owned garments into original new pieces, transforming the deadstock into the avant-garde.
