For the first Garbstore x Reebok collection, London-based designer Ian Paley took his main reference point from the unseen elements of the original Reebok classics - the iconic shoes that attract the heritage-obsessed and vintage-inspired, the dealers and the collectors. While styles often change their shape, their nature often remains a constant, but in this case the primary construction became the very essence of the shoe, from an original workout to the launch model, Fury. The choice of materials and the colour palette all reflect the idea that this new collection has been made from the very same factory shelves that store the original textiles, bladders, foam padding and linings, while key elements such as a knowing detail inside a toe cap or under the insole all help to point the consumer to the origins of the shoe. The unfamiliar vintage tone set for the collection will inspire people to imagine that the shoes may have existed or at least been on the drawing board or passing through the sample room in the same company and timeframe as the original. Looking left and right of the original, inside and out.
