Styling with...
Ali George Hinkins
We invited freelance writer and brand consultant Ali George Hinkins to style an outfit using his favourite pieces from the AW23 collections.
"If I were to define my personal style - not that I have been asked to - then I would describe it as ‘Functional but Practical’. I like to marry technical garments with easy-to-wear silhouettes that can be worn in a number of scenarios, not just in one place. With Autumn/Winter in mind, I opted for a lightweight liner jacket by BEAMS PLUS and a brushed wool overcoat by mfpen as they are easily interchangeable. If it’s mild, I would wear the former on its own over a t-shirt, but if it’s cold then the overcoat would definitely make an appearance. The trousers are courtesy of DAIWA PIER39 and if you had to ask me to describe my favourite pants then this would come close: adjustable waistband, comfortable fabric and a roomy fit. To round it off, I think sunglasses complete any outfit."
MIL Fleece-Backed Jersey Liner Jacket
"Designed to be worn on its own or, in this case, layered underneath an overcoat. It has a fleece-backed interior which has a comfortable next-to-skin feeling that keeps the warmth in."
Installation Fuzz Coat
"Nothing says Autumn/Winter like an overcoat. Made using post-consumer recycled wool spun from end-of-life knitwear, the Installation Fuzz Coat offers a lovely structured silhouette that sits really nicely. I saved up for an oversized fit that I think works really well with the wide bottoms."
Tech Easy Twill Trouser
"These fit like a glove. Very roomy throughout and leg, and comfortable enough to wear while working from home."
TANKER Shoulder Bag
"Regardless of the season, PORTER’s creations are universally accepted all year round. Coming in all shapes and sizes, the TANKER Shoulder Bag is my go-to for its compact nature yet abundance of space."
Frank Sunglasses Brown Tortoiseshell
"There’s something about sunglasses that could make any outfit look half-decent, so I’m all for that. Also, if it means that it hides my terrible eye contact skills then it’s a big win. It’s hard to overlook any eyewear by Sun Buddies. The quality is unmatched for the price."
