No Chemicals

15th October 2015 sees the launch of Couverture & The Garbstore's signature scent, a refreshing antidote to the plethora of celebrity endorsed, marketing-driven fragrances, offering a unique distillation of the store's ethos. Just like the carefully curated blend of products that owners Emily Dyson and Ian Paley design or select for the store, the new fragrance is a welcome return to traditional methods of making but with an individual, contemporary edge. No Chemicals does exactly what it says on the label, the fragrance hand blended in Paris from natural essential oils rather than synthetics that instead of masking the skin, create an individual, more personal scent on the wearer. The perfume perfectly mirrors the pared down aesthetic of the store, the natural palette by definition softer and a little more muted, appealing to men and women. In the same way that Couverture & The Garbstore successfully combines under the radar contemporary designs with vintage inspired pieces, No Chemicals includes ancient ingredients like Frankincense blended with top notes such as pink pepper for a modern feel. The result is a fragrance that is both bespoke and intimate, the lavender absolute and basilic of the top notes echoes of Emily'™s childhood summers spent in Provence, heart notes of ginger and rose absolute inspired by the couple's travels to the Turkish coast and Santal and Virginian cedar wood at the base of No Chemicals a direct reference to the location of the store, formerly the site of a timber yard. In an increasingly frenetic world, Couverture and the Garbstore'™s signature scent, produced by hand in limited quantities, offers a peaceful and sensual oasis. The No Chemicals collection includes Perfume Oil, Incense and Candles.
