Introducing
BATONER
BATONER’s hand-finished knitwear is now available at The Garbstore. Explore the brand’s heritage and learn about their manufacturing process with us.
Rooted in Sagae, Yamagata—a region renowned for its knitwear traditions—BATONER began as a specialist manufacturer, producing for some of Japan’s most respected brands. Now, with its own label, the brand continues to uphold the same dedication to quality, blending time-honoured techniques with innovative processes.

Craftsmanship is at the heart of BATONER. Every piece begins with carefully sourced natural fibres like wool and cashmere, which are spun, dyed, and knitted with precision. The brand works closely with local artisans, including neighbouring dye houses that specialise in techniques enhancing both colour richness and fabric longevity. This dedication to detail results in beautifully textured knitwear with a refined yet effortless feel.
The brand’s design process follows a meticulous five-step approach. Each garment is expertly knitted, then linked by hand to ensure seamless construction. Excess threads are trimmed and secured before being pressed with steam to perfect its shape and texture. Finally, a rigorous quality check ensures that BATONER's knitwear meets the highest standards, guaranteeing durability and longevity. Their Signature Cotton Knit is a prime example—a staple that sells out season after season, thanks to its impeccable fit and versatile wearability.
At The Garbstore, both in-store and online, you can now discover the essence of BATONER’s craftsmanship-driven designs—garments that are as considered in construction as they are in style.
