Skall Studio SS24 Trunk Show
Celebrate 10 years of the Danish brand with an exclusive trunk show at Couverture & The Garbstore from the 10th-14th April.
Started by sisters Julie and Marie Skall, Copenhagen-based Skall Studio have been championing an environmentally conscious approach to design for ten years. Raised in North Jutland, surrounded by nature, their childhood has had a great influence on their commitment to natural, Danish materials and local craft. The result? Season after season of refined, timeless and effortless designs, built to survive the ever-changing landscape of our closets.
We are proud to be honouring their landmark birthday with a trunk show from the 10th-14th April and... you're invited! Over the course of the four days, we'll have the Skall team in store to talk all about their approach to design. Not to mention, we'll be stocking an exclusive selection of garments straight from the brand's studio. Bring your friends and join us as we celebrate Skall at 188 Kensington Park Road, W11 2ES.
To start the party, who better to talk all things Skall than the founders themselves?
To start, could you tell us a bit about how Skall Studio came about?
"We founded Skall Studio 10 years ago with a clear goal to create a positive change in the fashion industry. From the very beginning the core values have been animal welfare, natural fibres, mono fibres, craftsmanship and classic styles made to last. Before founding the brand, we worked for other brands where it was always about making as much as possible as cheap as possible. As this didn´t resonate with our own values we decided to start our own brand – build on some strong personal values."
How would you describe the ‘Skall Studio’ woman in three words?
“Classic, conscious, and mindful.”
As Skall Studio celebrates its impressive 10-year milestone, could you shed some light on the exciting goals you're currently pursuing and any captivating collaborations on the horizon that our readers would love to hear about?
“At the moment we have a pop-up store in Paris and the goal is to open a permanent store there. So, that is our next step. We also have a new shoe collaboration coming up with Arteana in mid-April. It's a collection of sandals that are vegan and handmade in Italy by skilled craftsmen, which holds the Skall DNA close - in terms of animal welfare and craftsmanship.”
Reflecting on your brand's impact over the past decade, how do you envision its role in shaping
the industry moving forward?
“We hope to see more focus on natural fibres in the future. In our opinion, a conscious approach to fashion doesn't need to be that complicated.”
What would you say has been the most significant milestone for your brand?
“Well, the first time we saw a woman in the street wearing Skall Studio. In fact, we still get humble and happy when we see someone in the street wearing our clothes. Also, we have a showroom in Paris during Paris Fashion Week, that is a big milestone for us.”
Can you share any memorable challenges your brand has overcome during this journey, and how they have contributed to your resilience?
“When we founded Skall Studio, buyers and customers were not focused on sustainability and sometimes we felt that we had to tone down our approach. Luckily, this has changed during the years, and we are really grateful for that.”
How do you plan to celebrate this 10-year milestone?
“We plan to celebrate throughout the whole year – and we are hoping to host a dinner at some point for our Skall family and friends. Some of them have been part of the journey from the very beginning, and that means the world to us.”

Alongside this, she regularly showcases design ideas from across the globe, from architecture to interiors, offering a thoughtful take on how we interact with the spaces around us.
HAY x Emma Kohlmann
HAY’s latest collaboration with artist Emma Kohlmann brings her painterly touch to the table. For La Pittura, Kohlmann translates her loose, watercolour-like motifs onto stoneware plates, bowls, cups, trivets, a jug and a vase, each piece holding the tactility of clay and the immediacy of a painting. Made to be used and lived with, yet striking enough to display, they blur the line between functional object and art.
Converse First String
The Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star returns with a premium update in the First String line. Retaining the silhouette’s timeless simplicity, these reconstructed Chucks introduce a higher foxing tape, a shorter toe cap, and a wider footbed for improved fit. Available in three new designs in Men's and Women's, First String is limited to just a handful of select stockists across Europe, including Couverture & The Garbstore.
25 Years of Couverture
Couverture & The Garbstore marks its 25th anniversary with a series of exclusive collaborations. To celebrate the milestone, limited-edition pieces arrive from long-time partners including Renata Brenha, Donna Wilson, Sideline, Laite Works and more. Founded by Emily Dyson-Paley with a vision for thoughtful design and craft, Couverture has grown into the Notting Hill destination for womenswear, jewellery and homeware. This year’s anniversary collections reflect that same spirit - considered, creative, and rooted in community.
