Garbstore SS24 Fabric Overview
The essence of each Garbstore garment starts and ends with the fabric selection. From the meticulous weaving and stitching of each thread to the fusion of innovative, high-performance fabrics with timeless designs, each textile is chosen to bring quality and texture-rich pieces to life.
Delve into the fabrics shaping our latest collection in our SS24 Fabric Overview.
100% Recycled PrimaLoft® 100G Insulation
Our Flight Jacket v2 is lined with PrimaLoft® insulation crafted from 100% recycled materials. Renowned for its ability to provide warmth in wet conditions and often referred to as synthetic down, this man-made fabric has its roots in military history. Utilising fine microfiber polyester fibers instead of goose down, PrimaLoft offers superior softness and warmth without adding bulk, resulting in a jacket that is both comfortable and portable.
The jacket's outer layer is crafted from a nepped Weather Cloth, named after the tarpaulin used to shield individuals on watch on the deck or bridge of a ship. This Weather Cloth is cut from Japanese organic cotton and provides wind and rain resistance. The jacket also incorporates several military-spec details, including brass Talon zip fastenings and ribbing at the collar, finishing a garment entirely composed of sustainable and functional fabrics.
Raw Silk Check Shirting
Our Grande Shirt is cut from a blend of a blend of cotton and raw silk check shirting. The silk undergoes a yarn-dying process and is then nepped, giving the shirt its vintage texture and look. The sleeves are stitched using flat-felled machine construction to provide a neat finish. The shirt also features a military-grade brass Talon zip fastening and a chain zip pull at the chest pocket.
Japanese Oxford Heavy Canvas
The Life Vest is crafted from a heavyweight Oxford canvas sourced in Osaka, Japan and features pocket protecting padding and military-grade Talon zips, adhering to the traditional functionality of the silhouette's inspiration: vintage utility wear. It is finished with Air-Tex Lining, a material traditionally used as a technical sportswear fabric, such as for basketball jerseys.
Japanese 'Miracle Wave' Fabric
'Miracle Wave' fabrics are created through a durable wrinkling process, characterised by soft and lightweight textures. This specific textile undergoes wrinkling in Hakusan, Japan, the result of which is a finish similar to seersucker. 'Miracle Wave' can be found across a series of shirts and shorts from this season.
Soft Brushed Twill
The Home Party Shorts from the latest collection are cut from a soft twill sourced in Hakusan, Japan. Coming in a classic gun-club check, the surface of the material is brushed, which give the shorts a soft-hand feel. The single-layer pockets are sewn together using a single felled reconstruction method, ensuring that the shorts retain their exceptionally lightweight design.
Slub Military Cloth
Garbstore's Wide Easy Pant from this season are crafted using a reproduction of USMC uniform slub cloth which has been enzyme-washed for a softer feel than its original military-grade counterpart. The trousers retain several elements of military functionality through a vintage, French, hook and eye fastener and a pop-button adjuster at the hem.
